Art in the Garden

winter is in full bloom

Dark, cold and sometimes isolating.

although The garden has been put to bed until spring—

it doesn’t mean that all activities need to hibernate.

winter 2019 has some creative Options.

Art in the Garden!

Eco-printing on art paper

While the garden is nice for its plant resources, it’s not an absolute necessity. As a winter holiday, plan a session in my southside Minneapolis studio. All you need to do is invite 2 or 3 friends to join you. Then message me and we'll settle on a date and time that works for you— both afternoons or evenings are available and sessions are 4 hours. Cost is $80 per person (with materials included).

One-on-one sessions

Maybe you’ve attended technique-oriented workshops, watched “how-to” videos, or experimented on your own and now you have some awesome samples that you have no idea how to use. Maybe you envision taking your art practice in another direction and wonder about the first steps. Or, maybe you’ve just hit a rough patch and feel stuck.

Let’s talk! Look at what you’ve been doing. Explore where you’d like to go. Get some feedback. Or, even try some hands-on experiments together. Pick an afternoon—Tuesday through Sunday——in my south Minneapolis home studio. One session or several; you’ll make it up as we go along. $35 per hour with a 2 hour minimum.

Building a winter art’s community

Minnesota winters can feel long. Gray. Sometimes depressing and lonely. Let’s do something about that! Become part of an art making community. Bring you creative self and make art with others. Share, laugh, and make new friends.

No obligations.  Come for one or come for all. Just call or message me the day before to let me know you’re coming.  2nd Wednesday afternoons (February 13, March 13, and/or April 10) from 1 to 4 PM or 3rd Wednesday evenings (February 20, March 20, and/or April 17) from 7 to 10 PM. $5 per session—with coffee and tea included!

A similar but slightly different process from eco-printing paper. In this session we use plants—flowers and greenery—to eco-print natural fabrics like silk and/or linen. Some mordants to deepen and stabilize the colors will be included. ($50 + $10 materials fee).
