September 2018. Two Person Exhibition at Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts, Fridley, MN.
Join me at Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts for a 2-person exhibition, Indefinite Equilibrium, combining my mixed media/fiber work with ceramic work by Lisa Truax. The exhibit runs from September 1 to 30 with an Artist Reception Saturday, September 15, from 4-7 PM.
Located at the convergence of Rice and Mississippi rivers at the foot of the Red River Trail, Banfill-Locke is the ideal location for an exhibition focusing on the environment. Says Executive Director Jeffrey Ebeling, "Conflict and conversation between the untouched and human-influenced aspects of our environments are at the heart of Doroth Mayer and Lisa Truax's works. Each artist uses her own medium to challenge viewers' preconceptions of nature as purely wild....This joint exhibit evokes a reflection on our own interactions with the 'wild' spaces we encounter, and the traces and alterations we leave in our wake."
BLCA supports and encourages the work of developing and established artists and provides resources and opportunities in the arts for individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels. The structure, built in 1847, has a diverse and colorful history having served as a tavern, dairy farm, and post office for early travelers.
